Thumb for Breaking the Habit

Breaking the Habit

Monday, July 09, 2007

There has been a great focus in the press recently about stopping smoking following the Smoking Ban.

However, smoking is not the only habit many of us need to break. Drugs and Alcohol are well documented on the detrimental affect they have on our health and wellbeing and in terms of relationships, the wreckage they leave behind.

Whilst we are well aware of the above mentioned habits, it is timely that many of us can use this awareness to broaden our view of other negative habits, routines and automatic responses we may have.

Habits come in many guises – they can be obsessive, behavioural or day to day routines that are simple yet very hard to break.

Often our habits have such a grip on us that at worst, they prevent us from leading normal and healthy lives and at best, they control us to the extent that we become stuck in a rut.

If any of the above sounds familiar to you or you feel uncomfortable about the amount you spend, the excessive shopping you do, the way you speak to your nearest and dearest or the amount you eat or drink or smoke then enrol and come along to one of our Breaking the Habit Workshops and start the process of changing your habits and your mind.

During the workshop you will:
o Identify your habits and their root cause
o Understand how we make and break habits
o Learn about the process of change
o Develop personal strategies that will enable you to bring about change in your life
o Create a picture of how your life will be in the future
